This ERC PoC project “PACE”, has successfully developed an validated novel proprietary gene transfer tools that will facilitate the development of cardiac gene therapies in general, and in particular aiming at the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure. Moreover, this work identified proprietary gene transfer tools that can be directly applied to the development of biological pacemakers. This area of translational development, and related fields of arrhythmia and heart failure gene therapy, were further studied using market research and unmet medical need analysis which resulted in a solid clinical strategy. In this effort several key strategic partners were identified and crucial collaborations were initiated to support the translational work towards clinical testing and implementation.
