THE DEVELOPMENT OF STANDARDISED PERFORMANCE TESTS AND CRITERIA FOR CONCRETE REPAIR SYSTEMS

CORDIS oferuje możliwość skorzystania z odnośników do publicznie dostępnych publikacji i rezultatów projektów realizowanych w ramach programów ramowych HORYZONT.

The repair of concrete damaged by reinforcement corrosion is a world-wide problem. Most current repair systems are inefficient and the methods behind how they work are unknown. By monitoring corrosion, the development of new materials can be assisted and more effective methods to repair existing materials can be realised. Prior to this project, there was immense confusion over the standards and testing of concrete. The project involved an innovative development of standardized performance tests and criteria for concrete repair systems. The whole system of evaluation was changed, by examining ratios of materials and relationships between properties. The outputs from this project were in three specific forms: test methods, including equipment, together with the background information necessary to validate the test and to define compliance criteria in relation to different applications of repair systems for reinforced concrete; a significant advancement in the knowledge and understanding of how repair systems perform and how to make an assessment of performance based on the interaction of basic properties; the identification of critical properties of repair materials and how these can be modified in the development of new repair systems. Full exploitation will only be achieved if the results influence National and European standards. Thus the results have been made available insofar as they will influence the development of standards for testing of repair systems. Information on the behaviour of the materials tested will remain confidential to the partners, as this project has given them a leading edge in this area, and they are successfully commercially benefiting through internal and technical exploitation
