Objectives and content
All fields of activity concerned by mechanical properties of manufactured parts express strong requests for fast and non expensive systems providing precise and global information in industrial conditions.
Optical holographic or shearographic interferometry systems are giving part responses to these needs in non destructive testing (NDT), strains analysis, vibrations studies, or stresses codes validation. These techniques provide the ability of microstrains detection and evaluation on big parts in one shot. On the other hand, holographic systems are almost static and classical holographic supports are inconvenient. Continuous wave shearography provide low cost practical tools but unable to work in perturbed conditions and inadequate to dynamic loadings.
The demonstrating prototype assembled for this study will use a 25Hz cadenced YAG laser coming from the last cineholography R&D and specialised data processing. It will produce totally new pulsed TV-Holography and calculated Shearography imaging. Thus vibration study, stress analysis and NDT needs coming from different industries (aeronautic, automotive, nuclear,...) will find an innovative comprehensive and cost effective solution. In fact The Pulsed Digital Holography and Shearography concept represents the ideal experiment feedback for the designer as it gives the possibility to analyse components subjected to real life loading.
This development offers benefits not currently available with other test methods which may give European industry a competitive edge. Besides cost savings in testing is a crucial item in ensuring the competitiveness of Europe.
