Optimisation of the apricot genetic improvement by a joint conventional and molecular approach applied to the main agronomical traits

Cel

Apricot is a typical Meditarranean fruit, 75 % of its world production being located in the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The 5 producing countries in the European Union account for 40 % of this share (close to 1 million tons). Although the trees are hardy, and there is a number of possible outlets for the production (fresh consumption, dried fruit, marmalades, syrup preserves, nectars and juices, etc.) -- this production is seldom in surplus. Also, the area of the culture is limited when compared with socio-economic benefits that should be expected from its biological features, namely an increased participation in the cultural diversification and a greater contribution to a sustainable agriculture in fragile zones, where pedoclimatic conditions (drought, salinity risks reduce the choices for suitable crops and thence are menaced of human desertionConsidering the current situation and state of the art, an improvement of our basic knowledge on the inheritance of the main traits of agronomic and quality interest (see below) appears necessary to optimize the breeding programs developed in European countries. These programs are aimed at creating a range of cultivars
(i) with a gradual period of ripening
(ii) well adapted to each of the producing regions
(iii) resistant to the major pests and diseases, and
(iv) producing tasty and aromatic fruits with increased shelflife when ripen. Thus the planned tasks will mainly focus on:
(i) the inheritance of the major agronomic traits,
(ii) the analysis of the genetic linkage between traits, (iii) the identification of molecular markers associated with the detection of QTL (agronomic traits, resistance to diseases, quality of fruit).

Temat(-y)

Zaproszenie do składania wniosków

Procedura zapraszania wnioskodawców do składania wniosków projektowych w celu uzyskania finansowania ze środków Unii Europejskiej.
