Cel Research objectives and content The aim of the project is the development of a non-linear numerical model for the analysis of cable stay bridges with a composite steel-concrete deck. The possibility of adapting an existent general non-linear computer model for structural analysis is envisaged. The main tasks will be: - to introduce the evolution of the static scheme during construction - to include cable stay elements the the computer model, namely its non-linear behaviour; - to extend the finite element model to time dependent effects, namely shrinkage and creep, at the composite cross sections of the deck. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) To extend to cable-stayed composite structures the computer models developed at the University of Liege. Form the technological point of view the main benefits are the disposal of a numerical tool for design purposes, that can be used to the study of innovative cable-stayed bridge solutions. Links with industry / industrial relevance (22) The MSM Department of Liege University has been working in close collaboration with BEG design office, which has been very active in scientific developments in the field of design of cable-stayed bridges and of innovative erection procedures. The research project will run under the auspices of such a a joint co-operation.
