Cel LENS, the European Laboratory for non-linear Spectroscopy is associated to the Florence University as an European Facility devised to provide advanced laser and spectroscopic facilities for European researchers and to promote the exchange of ideas, scientific techniques and technical skills. LENS has a permanent administrative, technical and research staff which assist visitors for the execution of their experiments and offers a broad variety of experimental facilities for spectroscopic researches, covering the frequency domain from the far IR to the extreme UV with the highest available resolution, and the time domain with temporal resolution ranging from few femto- up to nano-seconds. LENS is equipped to conduct research in the field of ultrafast processes in condensed matter, in atomic and molecular very high resolution spectroscopy, in standard and time resolved Raman and in the spectroscopy of supersonic jet cooled molecules. LENS is a partner of a cluster of European Large Scale Facilities, including, in addition to LENS, the LIF-ENSTA (Palaiseau, France). the FORTH (Heraklion. Greece), the LLC (Lund, Sweden) and the MBI (Berlin, Germany) laboratories. LENS offers each year 600 man-days of use of its facilities and the necessary scientific and technical assistance and collaboration to European scientists.
