The main objective of the project is to determine and verify algorithms for processing data transmitted by space-based augmentation services (SBAS) - such as EGNOS, WAAS, MSAS - aimed to enhance navigation of Earth-orbiting satellites that make use of signals of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) such as GPS, GLONASS and future Galileo.
This objective is to be reached by undertaking:
- Analysis of requirements to GNSS augmentation with SBAS for orbital users;
- Investigation of SBAS signals availability for Earth-orbiting GNSS users;
- Investigation of the algorithms predicting ionosphere refraction for Earth-orbiting users basing on SBAS data;
- Investigation of the algorithms of pseudorange measurements carrier smoothing for Earth-orbiting users;
- SBAS-utilizing algorithms validation with data gathered throughout simulations and orbital experiments.
The expected results are:
- Determination of algorithms suitable for SBAS data processing at Earth satellites;
- Determination of algorithms for pseudoranges carrier-smoothing applicable to orbital user's operation;
- Verification of these algorithms with data gathered in experimental orbital flights and test-bed SBAS operation;
- Determination of conditions under which Earth-orbiting users can effectively exploit SBAS transmissions.
