Cel
CONVERGE is a supporting project providing the essential tools for the management, coordination and exploitation of the road, rail, air, waterborne and multi-modal activities of the Transport sector of the Telematics Applications Programme. The project will provide a co-ordination and expert support platform to get the benefit of synergy between projects and maximise the value, quality and range of programme achievements. It will provide the technical papers and the rapporteurs for several sessions at the concertation meetings, which will be organised by the relevant programme level accompanying measure.
CONVERGE is a supporting project providing the essential tools for the management, co-ordination and exploitation of the road, rail, air, waterborne and multi-modal activities of the Transport Telematics Applications Programme. The project will provide a co-ordination and expert support platform to exploit key synergy between projects, to maximise the value, quality and range of Programme achievements. It will provide the technical papers and the rapporteurs of several sessions at the concertation meetings which will be organised by the relevant programme level accompanying measure.
CONVERGE combines three sub-projects. CONVERGE-Systems Architecture (formerly SATIRE) will promote, co-ordinate and contribute to the development of a practical and useful systems architecture for Advanced Transport Telematics applications. The work to develop such an approach to systems architectures will be undertaken in partnership with the Demonstrator Projects, who will provide the architecture requirements and practical results. CONVERGE-Systems Architecture will provide the tools, a co-ordinated approach and a generic or open overview of transport systems architecture.
The sub-project CONVERGE-Validation Quality (previously AQUARIUS) provides support to all experimental projects, and particularly to the large demonstrators, in their experimental design, their validation activities, and in their final evaluation. CONVERGE-Validation Quality will prepare and present to projects validation guidelines and a checklist for preparing their (obligatory) validation plan, and will assist projects one-to-one in their preparation. CONVERGE will then review the plans, recommend changes to the projects, and advise the EC of any Sector-level measures that may be needed. Finally, CONVERGE-Validation Quality will help define Sector-level validation objectives, and begin to prepare for any collaborative studies required.
The remaining CONVERGE activities (formerly ACCORD) include defining and leading consensus working groups in public transport and automatic debiting; leading the follow-on from DATEX, preparing consensus tools for pan-European data exchange; and providing assistance to the EC in their contribution to the 1996 and 1997 World Congresses on Transport Telematics.
