Studying user requirements for satellite navigation network
As the first stage in its plans to develop a global satellite navigation and positioning network (GNSS) aimed at meeting civilian needs cost-effectively, the European Commission is developing the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS) which will augment the existing US and Russian military-developed GPS and Glonass systems. The present invitation to tender concerns a study to monitor the performance of the EGNOS signal in terms of its accuracy, integrity, availability and reliability. Three activities are required from the contractor: - Identification of current and potential users, their requirements, and their geographical distribution; - Development of a portable test system and monitoring the performance of the EGNOS signal; - Mapping exercise, to compare the distribution of user requirements with the performance of the EGNOS signal across the different regions. The contract will run for 12 months.
