Amendments to the EU directive covering the contained use of genetically modified micro-organisms
Amendments to the EU directive covering the contained use of genetically modified micro-organisms were published last week. The Council met on 26 October 1998 and amended the Directive 90/219/EEC concerning the field. These amendments have now been published in the Official Journal as directive 98/81/EC. The amendments clarify and revise many aspects of the directive, all the way down to the definition of what a genetically modified micro-organism is.
