DG XIII will launch studies on innovation and R&D
The European Commission, Directorate-General XIII, has published advanced information on an invitation to tender for studies within the field of Innovation and R&D. During the course of 1999, DG XIII/D intends to launch an open call for tenders for studies in some or all of the following domains: - Innovative firms and the creation of employment; - Patents in Europe: lessons from application and exploitation practice in research and industry; - Innovation policy in Central and Eastern Europe; - Absorption of new technologies by firms. Review of good practices on schemes promoting innovation in firms; - Cooperation between the research system and industry to promote innovative firms; - Review and analysis of statistical tools to gauge innovation performance in firms; - Taxation and innovation: a review; - Industrial relations and innovation; - Approaches and "styles" of innovation policy; - Internet and technology transfer; - Assessment of projects related to "Innovation and technology equity capital" (I-TEC). Prospects for its continuation; - Impact assessment of the introduction of software patents in Europe for small and medium-sized innovative entities. The total estimated expenditure for the realization of the above services is of the order of 2.2 million euro and the estimated date for initiating the award procedures is 15 September 1999.
