A mechanism for monitoring Community greenhouse gas emissions is being set up in accordance with Council Decision 1999/296/EC, and the European Commission DG XI has issued an invitation to tender for support in preparing assessment reports.

The purpose of these reports is to assess whether Member States are making sufficient progress towards meeting commitments in respect of greenhouse gas emissions.

The reports should present the results of the evaluation of future national programmes and their updates in Member States and annual reporting from Member States on national inventory data and most recent projections.
