CLARINET - the contaminated land rehabilitation network for environmental technologies in Europe - has launched a website at: URL: http://www.clarinet.at(odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie) 'The website provides actual and comprehensive information to all parties concerned with contaminated land management in Europe. It is addressed to researchers, scientific networks, academics, technology developers, regulators, industry, and all other stakeholders in this field', says the CLARINET group. The project aims to identify the means by which management of contaminated land can be applied in a sustainable manner while ensuring safety, preventing water pollution (for example through leaking of disturbed chemicals through the soil and into rivers), and maintaining the functionality of soil and ground water ecosystems. The website includes news and announcements, information on the network's progress, information on contaminated land programmes in 16 countries, information about various international initiatives on contaminated land, a web-library and links to other key documents in this field. CLARINET is a concerted action funded within the Environment and Climate programme under the European Commission's Fourth RTD Framework Programme. It aims to bring together combined knowledge and expertise from regulators, industrial land owners, researchers, scientists, academics, and technology developers from across Europe.
