New cars to be monitored for carbon dioxide emissions
New cars registered in the European Union must now be monitored for carbon dioxide emissions. The move follows a decision by the European Parliament and the Council to set up a scheme to monitor the average specific emissions of carbon dioxide in the Community. It applies only to cars which are being registered in the Community for the first time and have not been registered previously elsewhere.
