Ten years of Community support for X-ray vision
Highlighting the contribution made by Community research infrastructure programmes, the European Commission has produced a report on its activities promoting access to synchrotron light and free-electron lasers. It follows a meeting in May 1999 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the creation of the European round table on synchrotron radiation and free-electron lasers. The report contains a description, based on presentations from the meeting, of the past, present and 'probable future' of X-rays and their scientific uses. 'This publication will be of interest to both those on the field and those who are interested in becoming involved in trans-national research,' says the Commission. Community support in this area is manly channelled to help scientists carry out experiments at research infrastructures outside their own country. Other titles in the research infrastructures series currently available include: - Synchrotron Radiation and Free Electron Lasers; - High-Performance Computing; - Energy; - NMR in Biological Research; - Airborne Environmental Research; - Earthquake Engineering; - Frontiers in Nuclear Physics.
