Universities, energy agencies, energy research centres and local experts can now share information about best practices to reduce energy consumption and to increase energy efficiency through a specially designed on-line case study template. All case studies about good practices on how universities have or will implement energy saving measures will also be included in a 'good practice inventory' on the Association of European Universities COPERNICUS programme website. This follows the recent launch of a project on 'low-energy universities', by the Julich Research Centre as the German OPET member together with the COPERNICUS programme. The project aims to reduce the energy demand of universities in Europe and Israel. COPERICUS now aims to promote access to energy saving as a key issue for higher education, training and raising awareness, says the Julich research centre. 'It should assist the critical stakeholders such as teachers, students and university administrators to make sound, integrated decisions that contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency at university level.' scuss
