BSE testing legislation updated
Recent updates to the European Community legal requirements on the testing of bovine animals for the presence of BSE are now detailed in the Official Journal of the European Communities. The changes relate to requirements for 'special emergency slaughtering' and slaughtering of animals over 30 months of age and to requirements for the collection of samples for testing. The same issue of the Official Journal of the European Communities also includes the text of the Commission decision concerning control measures required for the implementation of the recent Council decision concerning protection measures against transmissible spongiform encephalopathies and the feeding of animal proteins. These texts are available from the Official Journal of the European Communities at the reference below.
