A call for proposals for indirect actions under the programme to stimulate the development and use of European digital content on the global networks and to promote linguistic diversity in the information society (2001-2005), through the e-Content programme, has been announced.

Part one of the call is a fixed deadline (15 June, 5pm Luxembourg local time) call for demonstration projects.

Action line one: Improving access to and use of public sector information.
Sub-lines:
AL 1.2.1 (establishment of European digital data collections: demonstration projects)

Action line two: Enhancing content production in a multilingual and multicultural environment
Sublines:
AL 2.1.1 (fostering new partnerships and the adoption of multilingual and multicultural strategies: demonstration projects)
AL2.2.1 (strengthening the linguistic infrastructure: improving the effectiveness of eContent customisation)
AL2.2.3 (strengthening the linguistic infrastructure: addressing the skills gap)

Part two of the call is a continuous submission scheme and addresses definition phase projects and accompanying measures.

Action line one: Improving access to and use of public sector information.
Sub-lines:
AL 1.1.2 (experiments in concrete projects: definition phase projects and accompanying measures)
AL 1.2.2 (establishment of European digital data collections: definition phase projects and accompanying measures)

Action line two: Enhancing content production in a multilingual and multicultural environment
Sub-lines:
AL 2.1.2 (fostering new partnerships and the adoption of multilingual and multicultural strategies: definition phase projects)
AL 2.1.3 (fostering new partnerships and the adoption of multilingual and multicultural strategies: accompanying measures)

Action line three: Increasing dynamism in the digital content market.
Sub-lines:
AL 3.1.3 (bridging the gap between digital content industries and capital markets: accompanying measures)
AL 3.4.1 (dissemination of results: accompanying measures)

Proposals may be submitted at anytime up to 16 December 2002 at 5pm (local Luxembourg time), by which time this call is expected to be extended further.

The indicative total budget for this call is 23 million euro of Community contribution.
