Web-based survey on electronic public services
The Information Society Directorate-General is calling for tenders for a web-based survey on electronic public services (government and citizens' use of the Internet). The eEurope 2002 action plan contains a specific action line dedicated to 'government on-line: electronic access to public services' as part of the overall objective to stimulate use of the Internet. The eGovernment action line encourages public administrations at all levels to exploit new technologies to make information as accessible as possible and provide faster, more responsive services. In this context, the objective of the survey is to benchmark Member States' activities in making public services available on-line, by measuring which of the common basic public services (as agreed by the Internal Market Council on 12.3.2001) are currently online in the different Member States, what level of online sophistication the public services on the Internet have and, consequently, to what extent basic public services are available.
