Preparation of measures to reduce vehicle carbon dioxide emissions
The European Commission's Environment DG has given prior information of a call for tenders for a study on measures to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from N1 vehicles. The Commission aims at taking action at Community level in order to reduce the CO2 emission from light commercial vehicles (N1 vehicles). Several policy options to reduce CO2 emissions from passenger cars are possible. Within this study, the following main tasks should be accomplished: to collect comparable specific CO2 emission, to provide estimates about the future evolution of CO2 emissions from this vehicle category, to collect information on the state of technology of N1 vehicles and on potential policy options, to reduce CO2 emissions from N1 vehicles and to evaluate their advantages and disadvantages, to study in depth potential practical, legal and organisational problems associated with the implementation of the most promising identified policy options, and to make pragmatic proposals concerning a transparent monitoring and evaluation of achieved progress. The envisaged budged is a maximum of 120,000 euro.
