Commission calls for study on road transport noise reduction
The European commission's Enterprise DG has published a call for tenders for a study on the integrated assessment of noise reduction measures in the road transport sector. The study will develop a noise modelling tool which takes into account both source and traffic related parameters. The study will further provide a feasibility analysis of both tyre noise reduction and propulsion noise emission reduction measures. Additionally, the study will provide an analysis of the state of the art in terms of low noise road surfaces and their noise emission reduction potential. Finally, the study will provide a comparative assessment of varying noise reduction measures that have been modelled. Work is expected to commence in November 2001 and to be of 12 months duration. For further information, please contact: European Commission Enterprise Directorate-General Automotive Industry Unit Attn: Mr P O Engelbrecht rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 B-1049 Brussels Tel: +32-2-299 2149 Fax +32-2-296 9637
