The Environment Directorate-General of the European Commission has announced a call for tender for a feasibility study on the resource requirements for a central agency to support the new system of chemicals legislation.

The recent Commission white paper on the strategy for a Future Chemicals Policy (COM(2001) 88 final, 27.2.2001) contained proposals for the creation of such an 'agency' or 'entity' to provide administrative, scientific and technical support to the new system of chemicals legislation.
