Commission announces call for tender for study on microlight aircraft
The Transport and Energy DG of the European Commission has announced a call for tender for a study on microlight aircraft in Europe. The study will identify the various types of microlight and related aircraft, describe the industrial structure of manufacturers and users and evaluate future trends. It will also describe current regulatory systems applicable to the manufacturing and use of microlight aircraft and related products within the EU and accession countries. The study will analyse the impact of microlight aircraft on aviation safety, environmental performance and the correct functioning of the internal market. Possible deficiencies, such as obstacles to the free movement of products and persons, will be reported. A comparison with the market situation and the regulatory framework of major industrialised third countries will be made. The study also aims to help establish a benchmark safety system. For further information, please contact: Mr Jean-Jacques Woeldgen DM24-5/98 Directorate F, Unit 3 Directorate-General Energy and Transport European Commission Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 B-1049 Brussels Tel: +32-2-296 0448 Fax: +32-2-296 7082 E-mail: jean-jacques.woeldgen@cec.eu.int
