Science and Society - programme support and networking
The European Commission has published a call for proposals for programme support and networking under the Sixth Framework Programme's 'Science and Society' activity. This is one of the areas covered by the 'Structuring the European Research Area' specific programme. The areas covered by this call are: Creating a more dynamic interface between science and policy making (area 4.3.1.1 in the work programme; see section a). - Encouraging the active participation of society at large in policy development (area 4.3.1.2 in the work programme). - Dialogue and information exchange between groups concerned with ethical issues (area 4.3.2.1 in the work programme, see sections a and b). - Raising the awareness of researchers on ethical issues (area 4.3.2.2 in the work programme). - Strengthening synergies between national approaches through promoting methodologies for addressing scientific uncertainty, risk governance and the precautionary principle in policy-making (area 4.3.3.1 in the work programme; see section a). - Promoting science and scientific culture, particularly among young people (area 4.3.4.1 in the work programme; see section a). - Stimulating the policy debate at national and regional level and mobilisation of women scientists (area 4.3.5.1 in the work programme; see sections a, b and c). In specifying the instruments to be used in these areas, the call requests the use of coordination actions and specific support actions.
