CORDIS extends coverage of national programmes on nanotechnology related research
CORDIS, the European Commission's research and development information service, has extended its coverage of national research programmes related to nanotechnology, materials and production processes. The activities of Belgium, Spain and Portugal have been added to the service, meaning that 13 of the current 15 Member-States are now covered by the survey. Research on nanotechnology and nanosciences, multifunctional materials and new production processes makes up one of the seven thematic priorities under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). To support added value projects and avoid duplications, the European Commission is carrying out a survey on current nationally funded activities and initiatives in these fields. Results of this survey are being made available in a searchable interface on CORDIS, where users can select information by free text, country or technology fields. The information covers each national programme's objectives and participation rules, as well as descriptions of priorities and contact details. All current Member States will shortly be covered and accessible through this central search feature. The survey will then be extended to the new Member States and candidate countries. The page aims to offer a comprehensive gateway supporting the establishment of a European Research Area combining national and European research efforts in nanotechnology and related areas.
