The study regards the introduction of information technologies supporting the whole procurement life-cycle through activities such as drafting technical specifications, inviting tenders, exploring the availability of products and services in the market (electronic catalogues), evaluating proposals, carrying out payments or monitoring the delivery, operation and maintenance of products which are the object of the procurement. The study will be based on the results of the preliminary work undertaken for the Commission services (which will be made available to the contractors) and will take into account the main international activities in this area: SIMAP, CALS, US Electronic Commerce initiative, etc. It will contribute to the definition of the European strategy on electronic tendering.
