ERCIM Digital Libraries Fellowship Programme
The European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) is supporting a European fellowship programme within the framework of its Digital Library Initiative. The objective of the ERCIM fellowship programme is to enable bright young scientists to work collectively on a challenging problem - the creation of a pan-European digital library - as fellows of leading European research centres. In particular, the programme offers fellows the opportunity to: - Get involved in the ERCIM Digital Library Initiative; - Improve their knowledge of European research structures and networks; - Familiarize themselves with working conditions in leading European research centres. The programme also promotes cross-fertilization and cooperation between research groups working in similar areas in different laboratories. ERCIM fellowships are awarded for a maximum of 18 months. Fellows may work at one or two different institutes depending on the needs of their work programme. In addition to researchers from academic institutes, scientists working in industry are also strongly encouraged to apply. Research areas of interest to the Digital Libraries Projects include: - Information and knowledge systems: . Computational linguistics; . Databases; . Knowledge engineering; - Interactive and multimedia systems: . Man-machine interaction; . Multimedia systems; - Computer graphics, image processing, vision and visualization: . Computer graphics and scientific visualization; . Image processing and computer vision; - Distributed systems.
