Multimedia material for education

Multimedia teaching and learning material has become a popular means of instruction for all ages and all subject matter. The EASI-ISAE project designed vocational training software and tools to help intellectual authors and software designers produce multimedia teaching and learning material.

The project's goal is to inform, direct and enhance the way intellectual authors, teachers, and software designers combine to produce multimedia material. The project designed Educating Authors for Simulated Interaction (EASI) as a WWW-based learning material, which has multimedia demonstrators. EASI helps teachers design intellectual material and resources to be configured in multimedia teaching and learning formats. The Intercommunication Software for Appreciating Educators (ISAE) provides learning material for software designers to help them facilitate teachers. The project also designed the EASI-ISAE Matching Facility, which is an on-line system that matches intellectual authors and software designers. The matching is based on their preferences in multimedia packages, language spoken, target language and platform, target age, and subject. Intellectual authors can also be found based on subject, teaching experience, and teaching age range. In addition, feedback is given through comments by intellectual authors and software designers on multimedia examples. In essence, the EASI-ISAE project enhances cooperation between intellectual authors and software designers so as to produce excellent multimedia material. It also makes multimedia materials more important within the education system.
