For intelligent mobile multimedia services
Urged by this, the INMOVE project provided a novel intelligent software toolkit for building mobile/wireless audio-visual applications and services. With the aid of the toolkit components a set of applications was developed within the areas of Intelligence Monitoring and Sport Viewing in order to validate the applicability and relevance of the toolkit. Finally, the developed applications and toolkit components were tested for verification of their usefulness. The INMOVE toolkit constitutes an expandable set of software tools for the provision of novel intelligent video-based services for users in different mobile/wireless networks. Based on an open architecture and object oriented programming languages, the toolkit utilises open source and commercial third party libraries. More specifically, the toolkit framework comprises four major components: a web-based toolkit User Interface, a Toolkit Wizard, a set of utility tools and several demonstration applications. The web-based toolkit user interface is the main portal to the toolkit that offers browsing and downloading of tools, along with modification capabilities of tool information. It may be also used as the communication channel between providers and users as well as among users. After downloading the desired tools, with the aid of the graphical web interface, namely the Toolkit Wizard, users may create combinations/configurations of tools for customised needs. The key feature of the toolkit is the interoperability among the tools, that is, tools may be combined no matter what their original development programming environments are. The INMOVE Software Development Kit (SDK) offers basic interfacing principles allowing the rapid organisation of any combination of tools into valid applications. The collection includes mobile, audio, video tools compliant to INMOVE specifications for video compression, processing, transmission and analysis. Additionally, each utility (SDK) tool corresponds to at least one demonstration application. It is expected that the INMOVE toolkit will enable inexpensive and efficient service provision, by cost and price reduction and simultaneously quality improvement of new generation audio-visual services. Thereby, it is expected to benefit all, including content providers and service providers, as well as, users of the challenging mobile audio-visual services.
