The impact of statutory contributions and charges on cost competitiveness
The European Commission, DG XXI, has published an invitation to tender relating to the completion of a study on the impact of statutory contributions and charges on cost competitiveness. The objective of the study will be: - To give a detailed description and analysis of the impact of the structure of taxation and social security contributions on the competitiveness of European enterprises; - To provide measures for determining this impact through several indicators; - Applying those indicators to compare selected EU Member States, relevant sectors of the Member States considered, and the sectors most relevant in the European economy in the specified Member States according to the sector. Member States and sectors will be selected by the Commission and the contractor once the first phase of the study is almost accomplished. The services will be performed at the contractor's usual workplace. Initial meetings will be held in Brussels. The project is expected to start in February 1998 and should be completed within eight months.
