ESREL'98 - European Safety and Reliability conference

ESREL'98, the annual conference on European safety and reliability methods and applications for the industrial sector, will take place in Trondheim, Norway, from 16 to 19 June 1998. The event will be organized under the auspices of the European Safety and Reliability Association (ESRA), with support from the European Commission, DG XII, and a number of European organizations involved in the field.

The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of scientific and technical papers covering safety and reliability methods, and their applications in a wide range of industrial sectors and problems. The conference will provide an opportunity for participants to be updated on the latest scientific achievements and to view more practically-oriented applications.

The topics to be addressed at the conference will include:

- Risk perception: Public/regulatory;
- Safety and environmental management;
- Management factors and performance criteria;
- Emergency planning;
- Human reliability analysis;
- Maintenance of structures;
- Maintenance optimization;
- Systems safety requirements;
- Software reliability methods;
- System behaviour modelling.

The conference will also comprise three workshops on the following topics:

- Reliability modelling of safety-related systems in the perspective of IEC 61508;
- New hybrid safety analysis techniques;
- Reliability of mechanical components and structures.
