New information on the 25th BCR anniversary conference

The 25th BCR anniversary conference entitled "Measurements - a key to competitiveness" will be held in Brussels, Belgium on 3 and 4 November 1998. The conference will mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Community Bureau of Reference (BCR) which formalised the European Community's role in measurement-related work. It will be organised within the framework of the EU's Standards, Measurement and Testing programme (SMT) and will discuss strategic topics related to SMT activities.

A preliminary programme is now available and the conference will be divided into four sessions addressing the following:

- The international scene;
- The needs of trade;
- The needs of society;
- The needs of industry.
