A Socrates/Erasmus Pilot Project, "The European Engineer Manager", is organising an international conference, "New Horizons in Industry and Education", in Santorini, Greece, on 9 and 10 September 1999.

At the turn of the twenty-first century, most industries are experiencing radical changes as a result of the introduction of new technologies and the globalization of business. These changes are challenging industrialists and educators alike. They require new ways of doing business, innovative strategies and new approaches to competition.

The key aim of this conference is to identify these changes and their implications for industrialists. Special attention will be given to innovative approaches and experiences developed in education to adapt teaching to these new challenges.

Topics of interest include:

- Creating new profiles in industry;
- Interface between engineers and managers;
- New educational methods;
- Innovation and entrepreneurship;
- Government policies;
- Information systems for education and industry;
- Government, industry and education;
- Financing seed capital;
- Career counselling and strategies.

The deadline for submission of papers, preferably by E-mail - two (2) copies of extended abstracts of 3-4 pages in length (single spacing) in English - is 31 March 1999. These should be sent to:
