Innovations for an e-Society
The event will provide a forum for innovation and technology analyses aiming to handle and discuss the current challenges of the emerging 'e-society'. Speakers at the event include Benjamin Barber, the author of the book 'Jihad versus McWorld', Michel Callon (from Paris) and Cees J. Hamelink (from Amsterdam).
There will be both plenary sessions and break-out sessions on e-Commerce, new media and culture, electronic governance, health services, work, vulnerability and new approaches to technology assessment and forecasting.
The congress is directed at the international community from universities, research institutions and industry concerned with technology assessment (TA), scientists with a relationship to TA issues from various disciplines involved (legal science, economics, the political and social sciences, medicine, natural science and technology), the representatives of administrative bodies and units regulating or supporting technology and decision, as well as companies involved in shaping associated, and representatives of the general public and societal groups.
In particular contributions on projects from the EU TSER and IST programmes will be welcomed.
The congress is being organised by the Institute for technology assessment and systems analysis (ITAS), Germany, and VDI/VDE-IT Information technologies GmbH, Germany. Support is being provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Germany.
