A workshop on "Design methodologies for signal processing" will be held in Zakopane, Poland, on 29-31 August 1996. The workshop is being organized by the Department of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian Technical University, Poland. It is being held to coincide with a "Special Day" on "Pan-European cooperation and technology transfer" (28 August 1996), supported by the European Commission.

The workshop will present and discuss research results in the area of design methodologies for signal processing with the aim of supporting and accelerating a pan-European exchange of ideas in this field. It will also provide opportunities for the establishment of contacts with potential partners for common projects.

Subject areas to be covered by the workshop include:

- Multi-scale signal processing;
- Wavelets and filter banks;
- Non-linear systems for signals;
- Morphological signal processing;
- Chaos- and fractal-based methods;
- Microelectronics implementation issues;
- Applications in all areas: neural networks, biomedicine, speech, imaging, etc.

Papers are invited on topics within these subject areas. All contributions accepted by the programme committee will be published in the workshop proceedings.

The organizers are providing limited financial support to participants from Central and East European countries.
