Testing and analysis for industrial competitiveness and sustainable development

The third EUROLAB symposium on "Testing and analysis for industrial competitiveness and sustainable development" will be held in Berlin, Germany, on 5-7 June 1996. It is organized by EUROLAB, the Organization for Testing in Europe, and sponsored by the European Commission.

The symposium programme will contain both plenary lectures and workshops, covering the following topics:

- Technical evaluation services for industry in the year 2000;
- Needs of technical evaluation and research for society and standardization;
- Technical developments and new technologies;
- Adequate requirements for mutual acceptance of evaluation results.

The Director-General of the European Commission's DG XII, Prof. J. Routti, will address a plenary session on "Trends and future development in Commission research".

Of particular interest is the EU workshop, on 7 June, which will present information about the European Union's RTD programmes in the fields of standards, measurement and testing (SMT), and technology stimulation measures for SMEs under the Fourth Framework Programme.
