European Information Society Awareness Week: Poland

During the week of 16 to 20 September 1996, a series of events will take place in Central and Eastern Europe in association with the European Information Society Awareness Week. In addition to events scheduled in Tunisia, Romania and Hungary (see RTD-News RCN 6446), a conference will take place in Warsaw, Poland, on 18 September 1996.

The first session of the European Week, held from 6 to 10 May 1996, saw 44 events organized throughout the EU to promote awareness among SMEs of new information and communication technologies and to encourage them to use these technologies in their day-to-day activities.

The Polish conference will present a strategic overview of the benefits and opportunities of the Information Society for Polish SMEs. It will examine the current communications situation in Poland and the business information sources available to SMEs. In addition, the conference will address European Commission activities to promote the Information Society and the Polish strategy for accessing the European Union.
