MIDAS-NET - Kick-off events planned

The MIDAS-NET network, part of the INFO2000 programme, aims to stimulate demand for and raise awareness of multimedia in Europe and has members in each EU Member State. The network is planning a series of "kick-off" events in early 1997 to launch its activities.

MIDAS-NET is Europe's multimedia information, demonstration and support network, and consists of 23 nodes in 17 countries (EU plus Norway and Iceland). These nodes were selected following a call for proposals launched in June 1996. The members of the network held an introductory meeting in Luxembourg in January 1997.

The network members are now planning the series of kick-off events to raise awareness of their activities in their own countries and regions.

The events will take place as follows:

- Salzburg, Austria: 20 February 1997;
- Naples, Italy: 22 February 1997;
- Paris, France: 25 February 1997;
- Luxembourg: 26 February 1997;
- London, United Kingdom: 5 March 1997;
- Jyväskylä, Finland: 10 March 1997;
- Limerick, Ireland: 10 March 1997;
- Stockholm, Sweden: 17 March 1997;
- Oslo, Norway: 18 March 1997;
- Madrid, Spain: 18 March 1997;
- Lisbon, Portugal: 19 March 1997;
- Leipzig, Germany: 15-16 April 1997;
- Athens, Greece: 14 April 1997;
- Copenhagen, Denmark: mid April;
- Brussels, Belgium: 22 April 1997;
- Reykjavik, Iceland: 23 April 1997;
- Utrecht, The Netherlands: 16 May 1997.
