GSDI'97 - Towards sustainable development worldwide
Invited participants from over 40 countries will discuss actions plans for implementation of the GSDI focused on the theme "Towards sustainable development worldwide". For the purpose of the meeting, GSDI is defined as "a coordinated approach to technology, policies, standards and human resources, necessary to acquire, process, store, distribute and improve the utilization of geospatial data in the development of the global community".
The objectives of the conference are:
- Build on the 1996 GSDI conference (Bonn) which clarified the current situation with regard to spatial data infrastructure development worldwide;
- Identify specific benefits and raise awareness of GSDI for the world community;
- Generate a blueprint for realizing the GSDI vision.
