Measurement and speciation of trace elements in waters
This seminar will discuss the key speciation parameters which should be measured in water to understand trace metal circulation and bioavailability and make predictions on human activity impacts.
Examples of new analytical developments which can be used for measuring these parameters in situ will be given. In particular, the seminar will describe microsensors based on gel-integrated voltammetric microelectrodes and microelectrode arrays for the measurement of the mobile fraction of metals, and their integration in a probe for at-depth measurements of lead and cadmium in sea water and manganese in lake water.
The seminar will be led by Jacques Buffle of the University of Geneva.
