Telework'98 - Fifth Assembly on Telework

Telework'98, the Fifth Assembly on Telework and new ways of working, will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 23 to 25 September 1998. This will coincide with EXPO'98, also to be held in Lisbon. The event is supported by the European Commission, the Portuguese Government, and European Telework Development, as well as leading suppliers of Information Technology and telecommunications. The Portuguese Association for Telework Development (APDT) is responsible for the organization and promotion of the Assembly.

The event, Europe's main annual assembly on telework, and related topics will begin with presentations from representatives of the Portuguese Government, the European Commission and the European Community Telework Forum. The second day of the assembly will cover the following topics:

- Telemedecine;
- Technological environment;
- New opportunities for the disabled;
- Organizational environment;
- Towards a new work society.

The final day will involve a round table session, which will include reports from the panel rapporteurs. This will be followed by a presentation from an international information technology expert, a presentation on Telework'99, and a closing speech from a representative of the European Commission.
