Bilateral research and industrial development enhancing and integrating GRID Enabled Technologies

Cel

The objective of the proposed project is o demonstrate the benefits of GRID technology for international cooperation.

Based on existing GRID projects in Europe and Chine the project will:
- Develop and enhance European and Chinese GRID middleware technology,
- Set up an integrated GRID test bed using European and Chinese middleware components for application demonstration,
- Set up joint application show cases using distributed workflow and data access technology,
- Disseminate the results of the project to industrial and academic communities.

Based on an integrated GRID WebService based grid infrastructure, a solution for an integrated environment will be developed with interoperability on the lowest level. Three application scenarios will be used to demonstrate co-operative design, simulation and data access between European and Chinese partners.

Application Scenario 1: Simulation and Design in Aerospace Industries
The target is to set up a distributed workflow for optimization, which includes simulation modules from EADS and AVIC II on a more generic test case.
Application Scenario 2: Environmental Disaster Prediction
The scenario is a distributed retrieval system for weather prediction results, which forms a global virtual information system. The project should provide some resources for mutual access of a data base repository containing simulation results.
Application 3 - Drug Discovery
The scenario would be a distributed docking workflow involving docking tools from Chinese participants as well as docking tools from European participants. The aim would be to achieve an improved result by combining the results of several experiments.
