Periodic Reporting for period 1 - GEOTHERM-FORA (Support stakeholders fora on geothermal systems)
Okres sprawozdawczy: 2022-09-01 do 2024-02-29
WP 2: Support unit to Geothermal IWG (GEORG): WP2 supports the Geothermal IWG in monitoring and revising the Implementation Plan as needed.
WP3 – Support Unit to ETIP-Geothermal (TNO): This WP supports the work of the ETIP-G by ensuring the organisation of meetings and workshops for the working groups.
WP4 – Market and technology trend analysis (EGEC): WP4 aims to identify the major technological trends in the geothermal sectors, major market trends for projects, assessing the competitiveness of the geothermal industry and promoting the implementation of a European Geothermal Industrial Strategy.
WP5 – Improving framework conditions for geothermal R&I (CNR): WP5 aims to contribute to the energy, climate and research policies influencing RD&I for geothermal.
WP6 – Monitoring targets and impacts (EGEC): WP 6 concerns the establishment of mechanisms and monitoring of R&I activities and targets in the Implementation plan and of the ETIP-G.
WP7 – Communication Activities (GFZ): WP7 aims to ensure a coherent and efficient dissemination process and appropriate tools are in place to raise awareness about the activities of the Geothermal IWG and ETIP.
WP8 – Ethics requirements (EGEC): This work package (WP8) sets out the “ethics requirements” that the project must comply with.
WP2 - The Geothermal IWG finished the Implementation Plan's revision in September 2023 and subsequently submitted D2.1 “Updated Implementation Plan”. The RD&I policy environment and actors in countries not presented in the Geothermal IWG are being mapped on a regular basis, and results have been presented in the D2.2 “Geothermal IWG Annual Progress Report 2022-23”.
WP3 - A report presenting all research and innovation topics on geothermal was presented as part of the D3.2 “Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda of Geothermal (SRIA). Deliverable D3.4 “Database of internal stakeholders’ version 1,” presented the database development to manage the members (internal stakeholders) of ETIP-G effectively. The EGRISE 2.0 (D3.6 “EGRISE 2.0”) was published in February 2024 and presented the empowered version of the European Geothermal Research & Innovation Search Engine (EGRISE).
WP4 - On the first two deliverables (D4.1 and D4.2) partners have identified a common strategy, aligning their goals and objectives to work towards a shared vision.
WP5 - The task leader has been mapping the policy environment and actors since month 12 (August 2023) and submitted as part of delivered D5.1 “First Mapping of relevant policy and regulatory issues”. D5.5 is the first set of factsheets on European regulations, standards and codes influencing the geothermal system that was produced in February 2024 and delivered in month 18.
WP6- The trend is to consider better the criteria of resilience notably though a minimum threshold of made in Europe manufacturing of materials, components and equipment’s. In order to answer this challenge and to better understand the current situation, the task leader of task 6.2 “Update and define new key performance indicators”, shared a survey with EGEC and ETIP Geothermal members (1000+ people) that concluded on 15 March 2024. The annual reporting is linked to the annual reports of IWG for the SET Plan. At this stage, it has been submitted “Monitoring Report 2022” in month 12 as part of Deliverable 6.3 and “Monitoring Report 2023” in month 15 as part of Deliverable 6.4.
- Enable, promote, facilitate and monitor the implementation of the identified R&D activities,
- Ensure the coordination and reporting of the outcome of the relevant outputs,
- Develop stronger links in the ETIP between industry, research, education and civil society
- Identify and implement cross-thematic activities tracked in the frame of other Implementation Plans and ETIPs’ Roadmaps,
- maintain the competitiveness of the European geothermal industry, and its global leadership regarding RD&I.
The expected impact of this first set of objectives is to reach the Strategic Targets set by the G-IWG and contained in the ETIP-G Vision and Roadmap.
The second set of objectives are to :
- Report cross-thematic activities and contribute to the SET Plan conferences;
- Enhance the outreach, visibility and dissemination of RD&I results,
- Propose actions to all policy makers for ensuring coherent priorities for facilitating implementation and,
The third set of objectives consist of promoting and organizing initiatives to mobilise the geothermal community to implement the R&I actions identified, e.g.: workshops, brokerages, consortium building and exploitation of RD&I results.
