The Horizon Europe Innovation Action GOBEYOND aims to strengthen community resilience and enhance response capacity to geo-, weather-, and climate-related risks. By developing an advanced Multi-Risk Impact-based Early Warning System (MR-IEWS), the project shifts the focus from merely detecting hazards to proactively anticipating their impacts on vulnerable populations and critical infrastructure.
This technical report summarises the key activities, achievements, and progress made by the GOBEYOND consortium during the first reporting period, covering the 18 months from October 2023 to March 2025. Throughout this period, the project has made significant strides in both strategic planning and technological development, laying the groundwork for long-term impact and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
From a technological standpoint, a core milestone was the identification of the most relevant technologies to be integrated into the MR-IEWS. In parallel, a co-design methodology based on the Living Lab framework began to be implemented across the project’s pilot sites. Furthermore, the first version of both the Processing Core and the MR-IEWS platforms were developed, tested, and demonstrated.
On the strategic and outreach front, the Innovation and Data Management Plan and the Communication and Dissemination Plan were successfully delivered and updated. These included the launch of the project website, activation of social media channels, production of promotional videos, development of a visual identity, and the initiation of the Community of Practice. A first draft of the Innovation, Exploitation and Market Uptake Plan was also prepared, opening dialogue on future integration and sustainability mechanisms. Additionally, an Innovation Prize was launched and awarded to incorporate an external solution into the project, and the first GOBEYOND Workshop was held in Month 18 (M18).
The activities completed during this reporting period have built a solid foundation for the upcoming phases of the project, during which the technological solutions will be validated in operational environments, and stakeholder collaboration will evolve toward adoption and long-term sustainability.
