Cel IFM-GEOMAR is located in Kiel, Germany. In the frame of this contract, IFM-GEOMAR offers access to the Seismic Processing Centre (SPC) and to the Ocean Bottom Seismic Recorders (OBR). SPC: IFM-GEOMAR operates the - by its size and functionality - most advanced seismic processing software. In particular, the restack depth migration algorithms are not available at any other European academic institution. Restack depth migration results in the most accurate image of the Earth subsurface and interior. The use of this highly specialised software requires pre-processing with other sophisticated programmes, such as wavelet processing and multiple attenuation, which are available at the SPC. Seismic attribute analysis and dynamic modules for litho logical and structural interpretations shall be used in the final interpretation. The application of the suite of modules allows users to extract the optimum information hidden in their data. OBR: IFM-GEOMAR runs a fleet of more than sixty highly reliable Ocean Bottom Seismic Recorders (OBR), more than any other institute or nation in Europe. As oceans cover 70 % of the Earth, large quantities of such instruments are a prerequisite to study processes beneath the oceans and the continental margins. The OBR can be operated up to 10 weeks on the seafloor to record natural seism city and seismic hazards or be used for detailed profiling of structures. In the frame of this contract, 24 person-months of access to the SPC and 230 deployments of OBR are offered. It is expected that in total, 24 users groups will benefit from the access offered.
