Positium provides governments globally the technology to analyse mobile location data from mobile network operators. Positium’s vision is to be present and receive mobile location data from operators in at least 8 countries globally by 2018.
This project serves to create the domain-specific product with scalable technology that can be customized easily for countries globally.
The ambition is to find a viable business model that puts emphasis on development and scaling. The result should be a system that allows personnel growth in the areas of R&D, maintenance and sales, while minimising the need for manual workforce for analysis, custom solutions and consultancy.
For the business plan, Positium’s purpose was to determine the domain focus (i.e. market segment), business model for selected domains, geographical scope and resources required for Phase II.
The potential in mobile location data comes from the fact that it can be used in many domains and have business benefits to all of them, and Positium’s experience extends to 9 application areas of mobile location data, from tourism to mobility to safety&security solutions. The natural tendency is to target all opportunities at once, which obfuscates strategy. Phase I activities by Positium were designed to select those market segments with the most upside through through interviews and a hands-on approach with customers.
