Currently the biofuel sector and the renewable energy sector are the most important sectors in the transition to a circular economy. As a lot of research was done in these sectors, the consortium will collect the necessary information for the impact assessment in these sectors with desk research.

The report will summarise the work conducted in all case studies and the main learning points for the project.

Summary report on the interplay of the European Semester and the circular economy (odnośnik otworzy się w nowym oknie)

The deliverable will be a summary report of between 10 and 15 pages that will describe the strategic role of the European Semester in the EU’s economic governance frame-work, its interplay with the circular economy, as well as concrete policy recommendations on how the ES can be expanded to better guide and monitor the transition towards a circular economy.

Each case study will start with interviews with the important experts followed by desk research and the development of an impact paper describing the macroeconomic impacts of the process or processes involved, the obstacles and potentials of mainstreaming that process and the macroeconomic and societal impacts of such a mainstreaming. The first draft of that report will be shared and discussed in a short expert meeting (workshop) with industry experts to validate results and get further input.

Both the methodology and selection of case studies will be refined and revised in task 1. Both the refined methodology and the choice of case studies will be summarised in D4.1.

An Internal Commission Workshop will be organised in M18 which will aim to present to several DGs of the European Commission (DG Research and Innovation, DG Economic and Financial Affairs, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, DG Environment and DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs) the key results of the project as well as the implications of the project for the European Semester.

The deliverable will be a report (about 10-15 pages) summarising existing circular economy definitions and providing a mapping of circular economy sectors and markets. The report will also discuss the markets and economic sectors that will be assessed in this project. This will be a guiding document for the accomplishment of the empirical work in the other WPs.

This short (about 5-pages) overview document will present in a concise manner the various actions to be taken by the team in order to disseminate the project results to a wide range of stakeholders including policy makers at EU and member state level, civil society representatives, NGOs, the scientific community and the public.

The search tool will provide access to the necessary information for undertaking a robust impact assessment of the circular economy. This will make the information set accessible to policy makers in the circular economy. The result will be a tool which can be used both by circular economy and green economy policy makers and analysts.

The homepage includes all relevant information, which is necessary to “enter the debate”. This includes relevant definitions, the project overview and project goals. Also all deliverables will be uploaded and serve the public. Furthermore, the homepage advises on how to become engaged with the project.

In order to address all relevant public, including stakeholders, policy makers and advisors, but also the general public, infographics will be created. These graphics will combine a flow chart structure with short definitions on key terms. In this way, knowledge management, sharing and dissemination can be combined.

The WP will develop a Data Management Plan (D3.1), which will set out which information will be collected, how it can be made accessible and how it is preserved and secured.

The report will be an update of the draft management plan setting out how the data collected in the project is stored and maintained.
