Assessing telecommunications requirements
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender for a study on the situation of telecommunications services (including the scope of universal service) in the regions of the EU. The objective of the proposed survey is to monitor the current scope of universal service of telecommunications, and to assess future telecommunications service requirements in the EU regions. More specifically, it will aim to survey, collect and analyse current data on service availability and service usage in the regions, and will attempt to analyse levels of customer and user satisfaction. The survey will also collect information on affordability in terms of whether consumers use certain telecommunications services, in relation to their socio-economic status, and if not, the reasons for this. This study will concentrate on the demand or user side through survey means, and will be targeted at residential consumers and small businesses (SMEs).
