Commission amends testing procedure for drug residues in food
The European Community procedure for establishing maximum residue limits of veterinary medicinal products in foodstuffs of animal origin has been changed by amending Council regulation (EEC) No 2377/90. The amendments clarify numerous changes in the Annexes to this regulation that have been made since its adoption, so as to make it easier to use. Certain Annexes have been consolidated, particularly Annexes I to IV, and the names or chemical descriptions of some of the compounds have been rectified, or made more precise. Certain material errors have also been corrected. The amended text of Annexes I to IV of the regulation is available in full in the Official Journal of the European Communities and the regulation will enter into force on the sixtieth day following publication on 9 March 1999.
