Cross border interconnection in public telecommunication networks
The European Commission is offering the opportunity to study the technical and operational issues related to cross border interconnection in public telecommunications networks. Tenders are now invited for a study to stimulate the development of voluntary guidelines and/or codes of practice by market players on operational issues related to cross-border interconnection. Issues to be covered include harmonised application of international standards on interconnection and technical allocation of point codes in signalling system #7 in a liberalised multi-operator environment. The study will develop a code of practice on the practical implementation of cross-border interconnections to meet the demands of new entrants. It will identify the need for any regulatory actions that may need to be taken by national regulatory authorities, or by the Commission.
